Sulfur recovery above 99.5%
Clauspol™ converts the residual H2S and SO2 present in the Claus tail gas, into liquid elemental Sulfur, by continuing the Claus reaction at low temperature in an organic solvent, thus overcoming the thermodynamic limitation of the Claus process. Due to very simple phase separation of the two main reaction products (water eliminated as a vapour in the gas phase and Sulfur which settles as a separate liquid phase), the process is continuous and does not need any regeneration of the solvent.
Overall Claus + Clauspol™ Sulfur recoveries can be tailored up to 99.9 +%. Pure bright yellow Sulfur is produced which is then mixed with the Claus Sulfur.
