Sulfur Degassing

Sulfur Degassing Concept

  • Sulfur from Claus Unit is polluted by dissolved H2S and other polysulfides.
An open art technology is based on contacting with air to remove this H2S which will be routed down to incinerator or back to the thermal  reactor of the Claus Unit.
  •  The Aquisulf™ technology is based on spraying of the sulfur in a sweeping gas through pump when a very few catalyst is injected at pump suction to accelarate the polysulfides’ dissociation and remove the H2S from the liquid sulfur.
Developed by ELF (now TOTAL) in the 80’s.
More than 45 references from 15 to 1200 T S/d (single train).
Supported by use of a liquid catalyst which minimizes equipment size and limits the Sulfur oxydation.
Open market low cost catalyst.
Batch and continuous designs available.
Designed to use Tail Gas or Air as sweetening support gas.
